Baseline Audits
For those companies who are starting to develop their safety programs; this audit will identify current strengths within the safety system, as well as their opportunities for improvement which will require completion prior to performing a certifying audit.SECOR Audits
For smaller companies with one but no more than ten employees. This process is a self audit system, which requires specific documentation be submitted to the certifying partner for evaluation of the safety system. For companies with ten or more employees. This process requires a certified external auditor to be hired to evaluate the safety system by reviewing specific safety documentation, conducting interviews with a variety of employees at all levels of the company and conduct observation tours of a percentage of active worksites. The auditor will complete a report based on the findings of the audit and submit the audit for quality assurance with one of the certifying partners in Alberta. This process runs on a three year cycle with a maintenance audit being conducted for two years following the external audit. Every 3rd year it is required to have an external auditor be hired to conduct the Recertification Audit prior to the anniversary of the first certifying audit. Even though this type of audit can be conducted internally by an employee representative many companies make the decision to have an external auditor perform this task for a variety of reasons including the desire to have an experienced auditor verify that the program remains current, cost of training and time for an employee to perform the audit can be extensive dependant on the size of the company and current activities.
